Algae are interesting to many and to others an unknown organism. Why study algae?
Algae may hold the secret to curing cancer and other diseases. For example, in
Screening cultured marine microalgae for anticancer-type activity Gerwick et al. (WH Gerwick, MA Roberts, PJ Proteau, JL Chen - Journal of Applied Phycology, 1994) gives us one reason to study algae.
