Life Cycles with Crayons

Here are some ideas on plant life cycles. Can you make your own movie?

And You thought Plants couldn't move

One of the characteristics of living things that helps to define them is that they respond to the environment. Usually people think that plants are passive. Looking at them moving gives quite another idea. Remember that plants do respond to their environments and do move. Note that other things move, such as water in a brook, and that movement in itself is not enough to define life. Take a look at this video on plant kinematics though and you will see that movement is part of the life characteristics found in plants:

Volvox

What are Volvox? Look at these videos and try to classify them. Then later, see what you can find out about Volvox at the library or on the web. Try writing about what you find. Remember to cite your sources.

Here is a piece on fall leaves that is both informative and enjoyable.
Leaves: Fall Wonder

(TIBU has taken down the publications that were there.  I will locate the piece again.  In the meantime, here is a video on a similar topic.)
