Though recent moon missions have found water iceon the Moon's surface and evidence of water was reported in rocks brought back to Earth by Apolloastronauts in the late 1960s and early 1970s, scientists now believe that the Moon may actually be quite dry. A recent analysis of chlorine isotopes found in the Apollo samples revealed that the hydrogen content of lunar magma during the Moon's formation was actually quite low.
